At what stage of my pregnancy should I visit?
You can make an appointment anytime after you receive your diagnostic Prenatal Complete Ultrasound ordered by your Obstetrician, generally around 17-22 weeks. Visiting around weeks 24 to 36 is when we can generally get the best facial images, although it is possible to get a vivid DVD and photos past 36 weeks. Women with twins should visit around 23-29 weeks, as twins have less space. We can usually determine your baby's gender around week 18.
What factors determine the quality of my images?
The most important factor is the position of the baby. Another critical factor is the amount of tissue between the probe and the baby (heavier set, or more full figured mothers should book their session at 32-35 weeks for more vivid photos). Other critical factors include the location of the placenta, the amount of amniotic fluid (the more the better); you will need to be well hydrated two days before your session. Keep in mind all babies love to cuddle and most of the time they have their hand near their face sucking their thumbs or rubbing their eyes. You will not need to have a full bladder for your ultrasound session, we will ask you to empty your bladder before your session begins. However it is vital that you drink the amount of water your physician has recommended, as the quality of the image depends on how well hydrated you are. (We recommend 5 glasses of water a day 2 weeks prior)

No, you do not need a note from your doctor. We do require, however, that you be receiving active prenatal care and encourage you to speak with your doctor.
